Ruth Ashrafi

Ruth Ashrafi is a Judaic Studies scholar. She has a Master’s Degree in Talmud and a PhD in Midrash from Leiden University in the Netherlands. She studied at University College London, the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, and Harvard, and she was part of the Jerusalem Fellows Program. Ruth taught Rabbinic Studies at the university in Holland and Hebrew Bible at the University of Winnipeg. She has taught countless courses on Bible, Jewish History and Jewish Thought for Jewish audiences. Since 2006, Ruth has worked as Director of Judaic Studies at the Gray Academy. In her free time she is active as Chair of the Education Committee of the Manitoba Multi-Faith Council and is part of the planning committee of Mid-East week at the U of W. Together with her family she likes to welcome guests for Shabbat dinner. Ruth is currently writing a book on R. Soloveitchik’s commentary on the New Testament.
