At age 16, following a botched ear surgery, Ron developed a massive brain abscess that nearly cost him his life. Being told that he may not survive the night or worse end up in a vegetative state, Ron went on to make a near full recovery, returning to high school and graduating in the top 5 in his class. Following his army service, Ron received a Bachelor of Education Degree from the University of Winnipeg. On June 15, 2001 Ron was assaulted while teaching a physical education class and sustained a traumatic brain injury (TBI). Ron spent the next 7 years learning to walk, talk and take care of himself. He had no short-term memory and missed many important moments in his life. Today, Ron is married, has 3 beautiful children and has found great success in his professional life.
