Rena Secter Elbaze

Rena Elbaze has been the Director of Engagement and Education at Congregation Shaarey Zedek since September 2016.
Born and raised in Winnipeg, Rena earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Near Eastern and Judaic Studies from the University of Manitoba and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in 1985.
In the fall of 1986, Rena went to study in France where she met her husband and later married and started a family. She was very involved in the Jewish community in Nice where she lived for over 20 years during which she earned a Doctoral degree in Communications and worked at several Graduate Business Schools.
Rena, along with her husband and three daughters, returned to Manitoba in January 2007. Since her return, Rena has worked for a variety of government agencies and more recently worked as a professional in the Jewish community with Jewish Federation of Winnipeg and Jewish Child and Family Service.  
Rena has served on several boards such as the Rady JCC, Adas Yeshurun Herzlia Synagogue, the St. Boniface Historical Society and the “Make it Your Business Campaign” committee for the Canadian Museum for Human Rights.
