Through the exploration of the melodies of our Siddur and Machzor as well as popular music, we will discover how music can impact the spirit.
For thousands of centuries music has comforted, celebrated, educated and in many ways shaped our responses to the world. 
This introduction to Kavanah through Music is intended to inspire you to sing, chant or listen to music with intention (Kavanah). Regardless of the sound quality of our voices, we can experience music as a spiritual journey of prayer.

Tracy Kasner Greaves

Tracy is entering her 14th year as Cantor at Congregation Etz Chayim.  She studied music at the Conservatory of Music and Arts including over 10 years of vocal training with noted vocal instructor Diane Berger and training at The Royal Winnipeg Ballet School and in the Musical Theatre Senior Performance Group. At the age of 16, Tracy began studying Chazzanut and Jewish Music with various cantors and Jewish educators. She began formal training in 2002, when she worked with the Cantor’s Assembly syllabus under the guidance of her long time mentor, Cantor Sanford Cohn. Tracy’s love of ethnic and world music led her to the Sarah Sommer Chai Folk Ensemble where she performed for over 20 years as a lead vocalist. Tracy served as the Ensemble’s Artistic Director for 13 years, where she enjoyed creating exciting performances, including co-producing and directing a full-length concert featuring Chai and the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra in 2002 and more recently...
