Judaism & the Jewish people have been shaped in part by millennia of contact with civilizations of the Nile; Mesopotamia & the Syrian/Arabian desert. Respectively- the land of one river, the land of two rivers & the land of no rivers. Water- its plenty or scarcity & how it is sourced are defining elements in molding a nation's character. While modern Israel's achievements in agriculture & irrigation are well known,  we will explore some lesser-known accomplishments in water conservation; water recycling; nutrient recycling & desalinization. We will also examine a new twist (The Jews drank all the water) on an old libel: "The Jews poisoned the water".
